Other leaders in Africa who have signed the Animals Matter petition, include:
Dr Noah Wekesa, Kenyan Minister of Education, Science and Technology. “The world is waking up from its deep slumber. Animals do matter.”
Dr Bonaventure Mtei, the Sub-Regional Representative for the World Animal Health Organization (OIE), in Southern Africa. Speaking from Botswana, he said: “As animal lovers in Southern Africa we are happy to be in the forefront - campaigning, advocating and lobbying for a more humane world and we are prepared to take necessary action against the suffering of animals.”

Tanzania's Minister of Livestock Development, Mr Anthony Diallo, and his deputy, Dr Charles Mlingwa have added their signatures too. The photo below shows Dr Mlingwa signing the petition.
