Leading climate change expert to give ground-breaking Lecture for Compassion:
Compassion in World Farming is delighted to announce that this year's Peter Roberts Memorial Lecture, held in memory of the charity's founder, is being given by Dr Rajendra Pachauri, Chair of the IPCC, joint winner of last year's Nobel Peace Prize.

The demand for meat and dairy products is escalating globally. Millions more animals face lives of misery in factory farms. Precious food and water resources are being diverted from feeding the hungry to feeding factory farmed animals. Food prices are shooting up. The impact of industrial farming on climate change and the environment worsens. How can we find solutions to this growing crisis?

Dr Pachauri's lecture, entitled 'Global Warning - the impact of meat production and consumption on climate change', will challenge our reliance on industrial animal farming systems and western diets. Dr Pachauri will also present his own vision for a healthier, greener and more compassionate world.

Following the lecture, a panel of experts, including Compassion's Joyce D'Silva and Professor Robert Watson, renowned environmental expert and Chief Scientific Adviser to DEFRA, will join Dr Pachauri in taking questions from the floor.

Tickets for this fantastic evening are £25.00. Book online here: www.ciwf.org/lecture

Water Footprint

On World Water Day (22nd March) and on every other day, for that matter, we need to remember that meat-eating carries a giant water footprint.
Did you know? It takes 13 million litres of water to raise and convert one cow or ox into meat!
Did you know? To produce one portion of beef (250g) requires the same amount of drinking water that one person needs (at one litre a day) for 34 years of life!
